FYI: Drive Thru Dump

Dump Your Hazardous Stuff
The days of flushing stuff down the toilet, washing them down into the gutter or chucking them in the trash are LONG GONE. We’ve got to be vigilant about properly disposing of our waste and the Dept of Sanitation has made it really easy for us. On Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 9am to 3pm you can drive into the dump (the entrance is next to the smog shop) on Gaffey and nice people in masks and white jumpsuits will take it off your hands. You don’t even have to get out of the car – BONUS!

Here’s a list of the things they accept: Paint, used motor oil and other car yuck, pool and garden chemicals, medicine, batteries and other stuff with mercury in it. They’ll also take old electronic equipment that you wouldn’t feel right giving to charity – like old tv’s, microwaves, cellphones, radios, or video games. Just know that you are limited to 6 items a visit. If you have a question about something’s dumpability, give them a call at 1-800-98-TOXIC. Lets all do the right thing now that we all know…cuz knowing is half the battle.
